Visually mark "placeholder" pages in an archive space

Users are often misled by the pages that have been copied to an archive space in order to keep space hierarchy. To avoid this a clear visual sign (watermark) would be needed, so the placeholder pages are distinguishable easily from the archived pages.

It is a useful feature that ancestor pages (parents etc., up to the root level) are copied to the archive space in order to preserve the original page hierarchy there. However, our users are frequently irritated/confused by this and fear that an important page was archived (and don't understand that it is only a copy of that important page). It would be great if those copied placeholder pages would be distinguishable from archived ones (different colour/watermark, or just a blank page with only the page title etc.).

Why not just create a blank dummy-page? As soon as a parent is archived, the dummy-page needs to be removed anyway.

Cedric, those "placeholder parents" are mimicking their fresh counterparts since the very first add-on versions. We are convinced that it creates value by making it easier to navigate through the archive page, so currently, we are not looking into dropping this feature.

We'll more likely solve this use case by using a different type of watermark or marker for the "placeholder" pages.

@Aron I did not ask to remove the structure but to remove the content of pages that are only there to make navigation easier and (probably) keep track of the page hierarchy (although I am unsure what happens to the archive when structure changes). Keeping the content also makes searching in archives a bad experience since users also find content and pages that are actually not archived. So yes, please go ahead and add a different watermark this will greatly improve browsing! But also consider to replace the content with some template-text e.g.

This page is only a placeholder for navigation purpose. Please access the page in the live space <LINK>.

OK, Cedric, I incorporated your suggestions into the user story in the backlog.

+1 for using dummy pages. You do not only copy the pages but also all the attachments of those placeholder pages. I guess it would speed up the archiving if you do not have to copy all that content.

+1 for a unique watermark for non-archived/parent pages. We just started using the plug-in and our users are finding it confusing.

Our team is facing the same problem. The parent pages being marked as archive gets confusing and a user can assume that the parent page has been archived too. While the hierarchy in archived spaces is good, it would be really helpful to be able to distinguish between the pages that are actually archived vs the ones that got copied over simply because they are parent pages.
