Trivial: Better Content Archiving and Content Lifecycle Management functionality for Confluence On Demand instances.
Better Content Archiving for Confluence Cloud - DONE!
-
Arroxane Eber I'd like this functionality. My company is considering moving to Cloud and I'd like to continue using Archiving for managing out-of-date content.
-
Adrian Gilbert I'd also like to see this.
-
Angelo (Anilo) This is a must, without this plugin we just can't go to the cloud as its so vital for whole company. ~15000 employees.
Please do make a priority if its feasible.
We do have server version.
Thank you.
-
Levente Szabo @Angelo,
Thanks for your comment and support for this.
We are considering the cloud version an important new development and it's not removed from our roadmap.
However, there are a number of aspects that are dependent on Atlassian, so we are also working together with them to move things forward. While I don't have an official release date for this, I count on your and everyone's continued patience.
Thanks!
-
Matt Borsuk @Levente,
Can you provide any update regarding this? We are examining a move to Confluence Cloud and this may be a large roadblock.
Thanks!

Levente Szabo Hi Matt,
Many thanks for your interest!
I understand that it's a blocker for you and for others, and I would like to make sure you understand the status of this.
As I commented previously for Angelo, we are actively considering the cloud version, but it's important to see that we are also blocked on a number of areas by Atlassian.
It basically means that currently, the Confluence Cloud API is not on a level of advancement that would make it possible for us to build a feature-rich app upon. What we could build today would not resemble the app you are used to, which we think would not add the amount of value we are aiming for and would just add to the frustration.I can again confirm that we are in discussion with Atlassian to move things forward. We obviously can't control their roadmap, so I also can't give an official release date. We will be communicating here once we have any updates.
Thanks again!
-
Manuel Sollbach +1 from our side - now that Atlassian is moving straight ahead into the cloud, we would like to see your app available for cloud.
-
Keimpe de Jong Better content archiving is a very helpfull Confluence plugin.
Right now we are using it on Confluence Server.
With very likely a movement to cloud it's an app definitely worth keeping.
Availability in cloud is a must have! -
Michael Woffenden Another vote. We're on Server now but since might eventually have to move to cloud, this would be an essential app to have.
-
David Mitchell The last update was from June of last year stating that the Confluence Cloud API was a blocking issue. Is there any update available on whether the API has progressed, in this regard, over the past 10 months?
-
Aron Gombas David,
I appreciate your interest in this.
- First, we don't have a precise summary of what changed in the Confluence Cloud API and Connect for Confluence regarding the previously existing limitations.
- Second, to be very honest with you, we see conflicting efforts from Atlassian that implement parts of the functionality that Better Content Archiving offers on DC/Server. They cover parts of the functionality through Analytics for Confluence and Automation for Confluence.
Per se, it does not mean that we will not release our app for the cloud. We are still looking into its feasibility, because it could make sense to implement this with a different design and feature set - by integrating our additional logic with the Atlassian features. I just wanted to share this to manage expectations.
-
Paula Dasch We would appreciate and need to have the Content Lifecycle Management functionality in Confluence Cloud, too.
-
Dan DuBois We have already begun planning our migration to Confluence Cloud later this year and agree with the sentiments above, that we would love to be able to use this tool in our instance post-migration, but will be forced to find another tool or lose this functionality if there isn't a Cloud-compatible version of Better Content Archiving available by then. Here's hoping there will be a compatible version available before then.
Thanks,
Dan -
Todd W Any update on this? We are starting to plan our migration to cloud and this is not currently available.
-
Levente Szabo Hi Todd and All,
Thanks for your continued interest in the Cloud version Better Content Archiving!
As we mentioned, we are monitoring the status of the Confluence Cloud API, and we are in talks with Atlassian to move things forward. Atlassian is the one that can improve the foundation we can build upon, but the Confluence Cloud API is not at a level that we can build a feature-rich app upon. Also, as Aron mentioned in an earlier comment, we see Atlassian releasing conflicting solutions. This means we have to be cognizant of how we structure our product development resources.
With that said, this is absolutely planned and will come in one form or another. We can't offer any specifics on the release date but please continue following this space as we will communicate updates here first.
Thanks for your patience and understanding,
Levente -
Sylvia Mader Hi Levente,
Thank you very much for your feedback to my enquiry on the Better Archiving for Confluence app and it's transfer to the Cloud. I understand the Confluence Cloud API is not yet on a level of advancement that would allow you to build a feature-rich app upon. We were completely satisfied with your app for the server version and hope that it will be soon be possible to have the app built for the Cloud version as well. Please keep us in the loop with any progress you might achieve in this direction.
Thank you for your excellent customer-centric support, it is great!
Best,
Sylvia

neil.johnson Is there any update on the status / progress of Better Archiving for Cloud? We want to purchase / implement the plugin in our 2000 user license Confluence but it not being available for cloud is problematic.
-
Levente Szabo Hi All,
Today I'm coming with updates on the cloud version of Better Content Archiving for Confluence.
After many many months of research and negotiation with Atlassian, preliminary work has commenced on Better Content Archiving for Confluence Cloud. We will keep you posted on significant milestones and updates on the progress in this thread.
However, (and the main point of my message today), we started organizing the Early Access Program and inviting participants.
If you would like to keep in close touch with the development process, share your use case, ask questions from the team directly and be the first who gets to use the app, then please reach out to me at levente.szabo@midori-global.com
If you know other colleagues or departments of your company using Confluence Cloud or planning to migrate, feel free to inform them and extend the invitation to them as well!
When you reach out, please also tell me about your use case briefly: share what features or capabilities would be the most important and valuable for your team and why, as well as the Confluence Cloud tier size you have or planning to migrate to.
Thanks for your continued patience and looking forward to talking to many of you as participants of the EAP!
-
Nathan Phipps Definitely interested in this for Cloud, but likely need a more polished solution quicker than the EAP could provide.
-
Levente Szabo Thanks for the interest, Nathan! I reached out to you via email to ask about what features and capabilities would be most important for your team.
As I notified all of you earlier, preparations for the EAP have started and participants are welcome!
If you would like to share your Content Lifecycle Management strategy, feedback, or goals you want to achieve on Confluence Cloud, I invite you to reach out to me at levente.szabo@midori-global.com!
-
neil.johnson Any estimates on timeline to EAP > Production?
-
Levente Szabo Hi Neil,
No official estimates for that. Note that the EAP hasn't even started (only registrations) as product development is in progress.
This space is generally good to follow the progress as we will be posting updates on big milestones here.
If you want to get the app as soon as possible (stable version but ahead of GA) or be informed on a more frequent cadence, let me know so I can include you on our EAP mailing list.
Thanks for your interest!
-
neil.johnson Yes, please include me in more frequent comms.
Are you aware of this other vendors awfully similar looking archiving app for cloud? https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1223013/automatic-archiving-for-confluence-cloud?hosting=cloud&tab=overview
Our scenario is we're still on Server. Evaluating DC and Cloud. Expecting to migrate to DC/Cloud in the next few months.
-
Levente Szabo Yes, we are aware of that. It happens that folks "take inspiration" from our products and try their luck on the Marketplace.
Thanks, I included you on the EAP list.
I'm sure you know and needless to say but the app is available on Data Center, with the same features as on Server.

The product team reviewed all the feature requests we received over the past years and made a prioritized list of what will make it to the first version of the app. Development is in full swing.
Here is a sneak peek of one of the key screens for reviewing content quality:
Going forward, the EAP participants will receive the next round of questions about your requirements and problem definition from me.
Your engagement so far has already been a huge help for us, so I expect you to keep doing a wonderful job!
Looking forward to speaking to all of you soon,
Levente -
