IMO most small startup companies will use the cloud version as opposed to incurring IT costs supporting a locally-hosted one.  If this is a target market for you, you might want to support it.

Agreed.  I'm considering asking my own local team to implement this.  If you guys do it, I'll pay you, instead!  As Tom said, startups are very likely to use Cloud hosting.  There are lots of us!

There is certainly a growing push from established enterprise customers to adopt a cloud first mentality.  Please fully support JIRA Cloud.

All our tools are in the cloud, except Jenkins. This would be very helpful for us.

With a growing IT infrastructure,  we started to offload many services to the cloud,  including the dev tools.   We will then move from JIRA Server to JIRA/Bitbucket Cloud in a near future.   Losing control over commit messages was one of the downside,  but hearing that Midori has plan to address this need is a good news.   My vote!

Any suggestions about why this isn't easy?  Maybe some of the features could be not available in the cloud version if necessary?

    Jesse,

Building an app for Jira Server and Jira Data Center is nearly identical in most cases. Building the same app for Jira Cloud is completely different. Although the business logic can be identical, the environment where it is executed is very different.

It is so different, that Atlassian even has a technology dedicated to this: Atlassian Connect

In short, there is much more here than just handling the lack of some features in Cloud deployments. You pretty much need to redo most of your app from scratch. We are actually doing that for another app of ours, called PDF View Plugin, right now, but it is a long process.

Yes, this is strongly needed.  Is it very different to make this plugin available on cloud?

@Rick yes, it is quite some effort due to the totally different technological environment. See my previous comment for more details!

We move to Jira Cloud because of Atlassians decision to discontinue Jira Server. Therefore we urgently need the Better Commit Policy Plugin in Jira Cloud!

Aren't most of the customers of this plugin using Jira Server? Will the Better Commit Policy plugin also reach end of life together with Jira Server?

Many of your customers are switching to Jira Cloud now, not just on the last day when Jira Cloud is shut down... Please help us!

    Hi Thomas,

Thanks for leaving a comment and voting for this feature request!

While currently most of the customers of Better Commit Policy are using some form of self-hosted version of Jira, we understand that many customers are also migrating to Cloud. Please note that while we don't have an official release date to announce yet, we devote more and more resources to deliver the cloud version of this app, too.

Please also note that we are committed to supporting the server version of Better Commit Policy for at least until the Jira Server EOL in 2024 and we are also open to starting conversations on a case-by-case basis with customers who for some reason looking to continue using the app after that date.

Thanks for sticking with us and don't forget to follow the topic here so you get notified of updates.
