Henry B The automation part would be VERY useful for those of us on Cloud. We have dashboards set up on Jira and Confluence. Having the ability to have the status reports captured as PDF then sent out on a automated schedule would be very helpful. I have been speaking with many BI platforms that do this through the API.

Michael Michaelsen We have a request from our users to use the autogenerated JIRA issues of PDF for storing closed issues and tasks. This is important for projects that have been running for long time, and where decisions made are archived in a readable format - also after the project is completed.

It is the Better PDF Exporter app that is currently in open beta. We don't expect to keep the beta period for a long time. You can expect that the app will be offered with paid and supported subscriptions within some weeks max.
About the automation component: there is no public release date yet, sorry.

We we really need jira and better pdf add-on to make a big jira usage at our company. Reporting the status is definietely the biggest part of our process. and we are trying to do that manually

Josh Costella We send a lot of reports to users in the on-prem version of the plugin. After moving to Cloud, we've lost that capability and the alternatives create a poor user experience. We are also looking to automate as much of our release process (notes) as possible.

Aron Gombas Important note: I wanted to mention that the pre-requisite for this feature is that Atlassian enables 3rd party (external) actions in their Automation for Jira Cloud and Automation for Jira - Cloud Lite apps.
I encourage everyone to ask for that feature at Atlassian. The more request they receive the sooner we can ship the solution on our end.

Aron Gombas @Josh I did vote, but are you sure that the CLOUD project is the best location for this request?
The request is tied to the Automation apps, not to Atlassian Cloud, which is a more general scope - at least in my understanding.

Adminjira We work on Cloud, and automatic pdf generation is crucial to us, because we want to create PDFs based on info provided to Jira through a form and then send them to emails also provided through the same form. It is neccessary that this process is automated, because it will process literally thousands of requests, so we really, really need this feature.

Vincenzo Altimari I Aron. In our case we have different project with different people involved also outside of the time which is working on jira. they not require to have a clear view of the boards and gadget but they want reports daily which shows the project sanity and task status. Now as now It's mandatory for us to print the dashboard to pdf (and this was already a great improvement) and send it daily to the different people for the different teams. Having a tool (Automation) capable of printing dashboard and (if possible) report with an auto sending option would decrease the amount of time we spend daily on that kind of activity and letting us be more focused on the core stuff and not the reporting.

Peter Blom We just started a trial period on the PDF tool. Is exactly what we need to generate PDF approvals on work for our customers. But without the automation we won't continue after the trial and have to revert to another setup. This is a must-have for us.
EDIT: Oh whow... I see the first request was placed in 2015 without any response from Midori or in-between updates? So likely not something that is going to happen. 😌

The links in Aron's comment are invalid becuase the Automation app was integrated into Jira Cloud and no longer available as a separate product.

Aaron Geister As a JiraAdmin to me this ability to set automation is very important. The team were I work is screaming at me to build this automation to pull specific issuetypes when they resolve issues to pdf for tracking. This would be super helpful if this was released.
