Allow archiving even on archive spaces - DONE!

It may sound counter-intuitive, but it would allow complex 2-phase processes like:

  1. Based on some criteria, move page X from the fresh space to the archive space.
  2. Based on some other criteria, permanently delete X from the archive space. (ex: free resources 2 years after a page was archived)

CLOUD UPDATE: Just very recently we released a new automation action "Purge" in the Confluence Cloud version of the app. It allows periodically purge (permanent removal) contents from your site using an automation! Therefore, it is the equivalent of the "permanently delete" archiving strategy that is applicable to already archived contents, in the Cloud version.

👉 Learn more in the app documentation.

    Notes:

    • As it is a potentially dangerous automation action (there is no undo for purged content), a Confluence admin must enable this globally for the site first. (See the screenshot below
    • You can purge contents from the current content items and the archived ones. It is not possible to purge from the trash, unfortunately, as Confluence doesn't support running a CQL search against the trash - which would be required to collect the contents to purge.
